Nova Sintra – A picturesque setting

Observed from above, Nova Sintra offers a wonderful view, worthy of a visiting postcard. With the sea, although a bit distant from its center, as a backdrop, and the small houses clustered among the verdant scenery, it makes for a wonderful photograph. It is a place where trekking lovers pass, who take the road to Fajã d’Água.

Eugénio de Andrade and the square in his honor

Son of a Portuguese father and a mother from the island of Fogo, destiny willed that the greatest poet, playwright, writer, and artist of Cape Verde be born on the island of Brava. His poems gave rise to wonderful mornas (and not only), which are sung today, more than 100 years after his death. Therefore, a son of the Earth was born (and died) in Nova Sintra.

As a tribute, Eugénio de Andrade has a square named after him in his hometown, where you can relax for a while and have a drink or something to eat.

Other activities in new Sintra
