Ribeira Brava – where calm and peacefulness reign

The ability to welcome (“morabeza” in Crioulo, the local language) is one of the main characteristics of the inhabitants of Ribeira Brava. Their calmness contrasts with their vibrant smiles, which make anyone feel welcome.

Ribeira Brava’s central square is the main site of this small town. With garish buildings, many of them with a colonial style, it is inviting for those who want to visit.

The Mother Church of Our Lady of the Rosary

The Mother Church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário is one of the oldest functioning churches in Cape Verde.

It was, in centuries past and temporarily, the See of Cape Verde, when the Bishop of Cape Verde, at the time, moved to this island.

Of his legacy a gold chalice remains, which is still found on St. Nicholas Island.

Discover the wonders Ribeira Brava has that are easy to experience.
